FOUNDATION REVIEW: NARS SHEER GLOW .VS. GIORGIO ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK | BEAUTY REBELS

L-R: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, NARS Sheer Glow

Hello, welcome back to my blog! This post is a first impression/ review/ comparison on two foundations that I have recently purchased: NARS Sheer Glow and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. I have heard and seen a lot about these foundations from youtubers, beauty bloggers and makeup artists, who have all raved about both foundations. So I thought it was about time I gave them a try!

Let me start off by mentioning my skin type and tone. I have normal to dry skin with warmer undertones (yellow tones). I find it difficult to find base products that have the right amount of warmth in them, especially in the drugstore. But both foundations have the perfect amount of warmth to match my skin. Both brands have a wide range of colours available, ranging from light to dark which makes it easy to find a shade right for your skin. I would highly recommend getting matched up at a makeup counter especially when purchasing a higher-end and more expensive foundation to ensure you buy the correct colour.

Sheer Glow:

Price: £31.00
Coverage: Medium but buildable
Effects: Added luminosity, evens out skin tone
Shade: Punjab
Packaging: Glass bottle without pump

The NARS Sheer Glow is a medium (but buildable) coverage foundation which evens out your skin without masking your natural features. The foundation is really dewy and looks like you're glowing from within. It's really easy to blend and works well with a buffing brush, beauty blender and also is easy to blend in with your fingers. The product melts into your skin, giving a flawless yet natural finish. The only issue I have with this foundation is that it doesn't come with a pump, I purchased the pump separately as I didn't want things to get messy. I find with this foundation, I only need one pump to cover my whole face. I find one pump is more than enough to give great coverage and cover all the imperfections I want to cover. The packaging is good, it comes in a glass bottle, it is sleek and simple which reflects the brand.

Pros:
-the foundation provides great coverage and is buildable
-the foundation looks like skin
-the foundation does everything it claims to do
-the foundation comes in a large variety of shades

Cons:
-the foundation doesn't come with a pump
-once the pump has been fixed on, the lid cannot be put back on

Armani Luminous Silk

Price: £36.50
Coverage: Medium
Effects: Added radiance, evens out skin tone
Packaging: Glass bottle with pump

The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is a medium coverage foundation which looks like skin when applied to the face. The foundation is very natural looking and adds a subtle radiance to the skin, but isn't overly luminous. The formula is great and the foundation glides smoothly onto the skin. The coverage is flawless and again I find that one pump is enough to cover the whole of my face. Again this foundation works well with brushes, sponges and with your fingers, however I find it works the best with a buffing brush. The luminosity of the Luminous Silk is less prominent than that of the Sheer Glow, but it still is a beautiful foundation. I love the fact that this foundation comes with a pump! It makes everything so much easier and you get your money's worth! The packaging of this foundation is great in my opinion. The foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle and comes with a pump! The packaging is classy and has a small logo on the lid.

Pros:
-the foundations has great coverage
-the foundation looks like skin
-the foundation is luminous and does what it claims
-the foundation comes in a large variety of shades

Cons:
-the foundation is slightly less radiant than the Sheer Glow

Overall, both foundations are very similar in their effects as they essentially do the same thing of adding luminosity to the skin. However, I do prefer the NARS Sheer Glow just because it is extra dewy and I do love a very glowy base. I do love both foundations and they are some of the best foundations I have ever tried. I would highly recommend these foundations to those of you with a similar skin type to me. I'm not sure how these foundations would be on oily skin but I would suggest picking up a tester to see if they work for you.

I hope this first impression/ review/ comparison of these foundations was helpful,

Talk soon, M x
